Soon you can do your part to reduce your food's carbon footprint!
Conventional agriculture uses one barrel of oil equivalent per acre per year to grow crops. Diesel fuel, synthetic fertilizers, pesticides and hybrid seed are all fossil fuel intensive. On our farm we will produce our own biodiesel (B100) and eventually green diesel (HVO) from canola, use compost and mineral fertilizers, never use pesticides and initially only use open pollinated seed to create food products that don't require any fossil fuel inputs.
You can drive an electric vehicle (EV) and you can power your home with solar and wind. But currently your food, even certified organic food, is drenched in fossil fuels. When our products come to market, you can finally begin to vote with your food dollars for the transition to climate positive food.
We are working to get our growing and processing certified to ISO 14067:2018 standards. It defines the principles, requirements and guidelines for the quantification of carbon footprint of our climate positive food. The aim of the standard is to quantify Greenhouse gas emissions associated with the life cycle stages of a product. Our grain will be dried using 100% renewable energy and our processing facilities will also be powered by 100% renewable energy.
When our product development phase is completed, we will begin offering our fossil fuel free food direct to consumers.
